Aditya CHINTAPALLI
I paint sleeping figures suspended in still water, surrounded by chrysanthemums and accompanied by swans and peacocks, wide-awake messengers, leaning towards a sleeper who does not yet see them. I work in oil, in successive layers, on supports that I prepare myself—copper, wood, linen canvas—so that the light passes through the image differently depending on the time of day. This series was born from Mallarmé's poem "The Swan," which I read one winter on the banks of the Seine, and from a question that constantly returns to me: what does it take to truly stop and see the world around us?
